French Program
French instruction at First Steps begins early and stays consistent. Rather than introducing French as an isolated unit in one or two grade levels, we build on it year over year, so students develop familiarity and grow confidence with the language throughout their time at First Steps.
From learning foundational vocabulary and simple phrases to reading, writing, and communicating in French, students develop a genuine relationship with the language.
Why French Matters
Learning a second language at a young age strengthens cognitive development across the board. Studies consistently show that bilingual students demonstrate stronger problem-solving skills, better memory, and greater ability to focus. In Canada, French proficiency is also a meaningful advantage for post-secondary education and future careers.
